New from Buchiglas (Büchi AG) – maxiclave® and maxiclave® drive pressure reactors

Buchiglas (Büchi AG)  has added the maxiclave® and maxiclave® drive to its range of laboratory pressure reactors: compact 0.5 and 1.0 L systems for research at high pressure, high temperature or both.

Both reactors share the same interchangeable 0.5 and 1.0 L vessels and the same 200 bar / 300 °C rating. The vessels have no heating jacket and are heated on a laboratory hot plate or in a bath, so the volume can be changed without switching to a different platform.

The two versions differ only in how the reaction is mixed. The maxiclave® drive has a cyclone 075 dc magnetic stirrer drive: a stirrer shaft with a propeller stirrer inside the vessel, driven through a magnetic coupling with 75 N·cm of torque. Choose it when the process needs defined mechanical agitation, for example hydrogenation and other gas–liquid reactions, polymerisation, work with suspended catalysts or higher-viscosity media. The maxiclave® has no stirrer drive; a magnetic stirring bar driven by a stirring hot plate mixes the medium, which is sufficient where the reaction does not need intensive mixing.
